What is EFT?

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) views relationships as paramount to not only joy and comfort, but also human survival. When we are not feeling safe and secure in our most important relationships, we can experience intense stress and pain, which often results in conflict or withdrawal.

In EFT the therapist works with the couple to identify the cycle they get stuck in and dismantle it.  Once the cycle ceases to trap the couple, the therapist helps you express underlying needs that fuel the cycle in a way so that your partner can respond rather than react, which will lead to greater connection and safety within the relationship.

EFT is backed by 20 years of empirical research; research shows that over 90% of clients show significant improvement with EFT treatment.  For more information, please see the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy website.
